6 Beauty Hacks to OWN Your Skin Care Routine and Achieve Flaweless Skin
Flawless skin has been something I’ve been trying my entire life to achieve. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m constantly at war with my own skin. You see I have a skin condition called Hidradenitis. Hidradenitis effects the skin, essentially my hair follices and sweat glands can get clogged very easily and becaome enflammed – inevitably leading to acne, so I have to try my hardest to stay a step ahead of my illness. My skin care routine is damn near religious. (lol) There are a few beauty hacks I’ve tried and believe in so I thought I would share those with you. Aren’t I just AMAZINGLY awesome?
Ok for the record I am not a doctor so you should definitley check with your doctor before drastically switching up your skin care routine… especially if you are under a doctor’s care for Hidradenitis or any other skin condition.
I know first hand that problem skin can be very frustrating and at times soul crushing but being dedicated to beautiful skin should always be your priority. I love makeup. Can’t stop playing with it. Can’t stop watching Youtube videos about it. I might qualify as an obssessed fan at this point. Makeup is awesome, but your application of said makeup will only be as good as the skin underneath it. You face is a blank canvas, and the smoother the surface the more flawless your finished product will be. So let’s get that skin together with 6 beauty hacks.
Beauty Hack #1 – Know Your Skin Type
Knowing your skin type will help you determine the right kind of skin care it needs to look and feel it’s best. Not sure what your skin type is? No worries, I got you covered.
There are 3 basic skin types and we all fit into one of them. I mean as long as you’re not an alien, or a lizard woman ( yes that was a Doctor Who reference) 🙂 So let’s talk about these skin types and how you can figure out which one is yours. Now during the winter and summer months your skin type may slightly – or majorly depending on the person – change. You may need to switch up your routine in these months as your MVP products may not be as effective.
Dry as the Savanna – Dry skin requires additional care, but that’s not an indication of bad skin. It’s just a thing, embrace it. Seriously the worst thing you can do is ignore it, premature aging, ain’t nobody got time for that!
Indications you have dry skin
- Skin feels tight when you wake up in the morning
- You have noticeable fines lines and wrinkles
- You have flaky spots
- Your pores are nearly invisible
- Itchy Skin
- Dull or uneven complexion
- Feels like you could take a bath in a tub full of moisturizer and still can’t get enough of it
- Makeup looks flaky by midday
Oily Skin – The polar opposite of dry skin, oily skin has it’s own set of issues. A common myth is that women with oily skin don’t need moisturizer – Totally not true!
Indications you have oily skin
- Skin is shiny when you wake up in the morning
- Few, if any, fine lines and wrinkles
- Blemishes and large pores
- Congested looking complexion
- Feels like it always slick
- Makeup won’t stay put
Normal/Combo Skin – Most of us have this skin type. \Ordinarily when a women isn’t sure about her skin type it’s because she has combination skin.
Indications you have normal/combination skin
- Dry areas on cheeks with an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin)
- Fine Line and Wrinkles around eye area
- Blemishes and or blackheads on the nose and chin
- Feels like you need a midday makeup touch up

Beauty Hack #2 Go to Sleep
I know it sounds cliches but it’s true. Getting enough rest is crucial for you overall health, but it also helps your skin look young and fresh. So yes, there is something to that whole beauty sleep thing. Have you ever had a rough night of sleep and looked in thye mirror in the morning and had no idea who was looking back at you? It’s all in the eyes… So do your skin a favor and go to bed.
Beauty Tip #3: Drink More Water
I will be totally honest here, I am not a fan of drinking water. When I was pregnant with my oldest everytime I would drink water I would throw up. (lol) Haven’t really been too into it ever since. I am currently forcing myself to drink more water because no matter what my reservations are with the stuff I can’t really argue with the experts here. Water helps your skin replenish itself, assists with the elimination of toxins, and drinking enough of the stuff can help delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. So pour another glass and chug it on down.

Beauty Hack #4 Eat Healthier
While it is a complete myth that greasy foods and chocolate cause acne, eating more nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables give your skin the vitamins and other nutrients it needs to be in top condition.
Beauty Hack #5 Wash Your Dirty Face!
Due to my skin condition I have to be extremely diligent in my skin care. So needless to say if I miss washing my face before bed I can definitely tell in the morning. If you don’t do anything else to pamper your skin I’d receommend starting here. Also, your skin repairs itself at night so make sure it is clean and makeup free before you jump in the bed.
Beauty Hack #6 Keep YTour Ruddy Hands Off!
This one can be hard to remember but try to keep your hands off your face. My mother used to tell me this all the time! My fiancee is always telling me to wash my hands when I come back from the store because of all the germs all over everything. I really never even thought about that before she mentioned it. Turns out they weren’t making that up… Touching your face can transmit bacteria, making your skin more prone to breakouts.
