Beauty Blender is a staple in every makeup kit, every vanity around the globe. I would say it’s the number one brand for makeup blending worldwide, so much so that It’s really rare to watch a YouTube video without seeing one. So when I saw beauty influencer Thomas Halbert raving about a drugstore brand option for a blending sponge I was intrigued. I like a competition in the beauty community – it keeps things fresh and interesting, so I had to do some digging to find out what all the hub-bub was about and if a drugstore item was really worth my coins.
So yeah, What’s up with this sponge?
Japonesque is an affordable beauty brand that specializes in makeup brushes and other beauty accessories. The company was founded by a model who was inspired by the makeup tools that were used by Japanese Makeup Artists. It’s a brand that I honestly haven’t paid much attention too. I mean I’d see them at Drugstores and would glance at them and move on to what I was after. So to here this praise of a drugstore brand over a giant like Beauty Blender was almost unheard of in my head.
My investigative wheels started turning and I had to get to the bottom of this. So i did what any woman would do… I started googling… and found AMAZING reviews! Ulta Beauty is my go to for all things beauty at a competitive price that won’t Avada Kedavra my budget. The Kumadori Beauty Sponge retails for $10 has 63 positive reviews. Here is a sample of what makeup lovers are saying.
This is one of the best beauty sponges I have ever used…and I have tried them all!
This is by far my favorite vestige blender ever. I bought it a while back bc a lot of beauty blenders weren’t working for me. I saw this once and decided to give it a try. BEST decision i have ever made. It leaves your makeup looking so good. Your skin sooo smooth. The beauty blender itself is sooo soft and when applied it does not take product off just blends. I use this all the time. It is the only beauty blender i use. I recently just bought a couple more because mine was getting old. I tell all my friends about it and try to get
I usually stick to the real technique sponge but wanted to try this one since it was on sale and I liked the colors. I was instantly impressed. This blends my liquid foundation to perfection I went back and bought 2 more. Would recommend!
I love this sponge. I find that it works better than the real techniques sponges (I do still love those though). to me it doesn’t soak up as much product as other sponges tend to so I find that I’m able to better move foundation all over my face. I’ve had the ulta sponges which were OK. real techniques is great, but again the japonesque sponge holds on to less product. these are pricier though so I’ll probably use the RT ones more often, but use japonesque for more special occasions. I wouldn’t want to wear out this one too quick
So my final verdict is to give the Japonesque Beauty Sponge a shot. If you do I’d love to hear about your experience with this underdog product.
