Like many around the globe, I have a passion for makeup. When I was a little girl my grandmother had quite the collection of foundations, blushes, mascara, and eye shadows. I would hand out in her room and just play in her makeup… Making myself pretty… for hours. She never said one word. It was in this time that I discovered how trans-formative a swirl of a brush could be. How creating rosy red cheeks could make me want to sing… How I’d pretend to be Janet Jackson or Madonna… You know whatever I was feeling that day. Sadly my grandmother is no longer with us, but the memories of playing with her makeup stay with me, how she let me use my imagination and be creative.
Fast forward several years and I am still that little girl playing with makeup and just feeling extra feminine, but now I have real world problems and responsibilities and no matter how much I wish I could go on Sephora shopping sprees every month, it’s not very realistic. I mean I guess I could however, then the electricity would get disconnected and I wouldn’t be able to see the masterpiece I created on my face anyway so yeah… I tend to like the heat on so let’s be adults here…

Easy Guide To Saving Money On Makeup
We all know that makeup can get expensive. Now I know some of you anti-makeup chicks are out there saying it’s an unnecessary expense. I think everyone has something they like to splurge in every now and again, so I really don’t want to hear about all that. Have a seat sis… We aren’t here for you right now. Ok Moving on. Cosmetic Brands are constantly upping their game and creating palettes and colors and packaging that makes our collective jaws drop and swipe those cards. So yeah we could just not spend the money… and of course I do my research and try to find palettes and shades that are really going to work for me, I’m not out here buying everything that rolls out, but yeah I can definitely still put a dent in our budget with it. Actually I have been considering adding makeup into our budget. Why? Because Makeup makes me feel good. I like the way I look in it and I prefer to wear it.
The best tip I can give you about shopping online is to use Ebates. I know you’ve seen the commercials and everything – Yes, it really does work. Ebates is a cashback platform that helps you earn money back by shopping online at your fave stores. TIP: Download the Chrome Extension and a little pop up will let you know how much cashback you can earn at the site you’re browsing. It may not seem like much but every little bit adds up.
Sign Up for Brand Rewards Programs
My next tip is to join brand reward programs. These loyalty programs help you convert the money you spend into points that you can redeem for future discounts or even free full size products. I came up with a little/big list of reward programs you can join and start raking up the rewards points.
Sephora is the premier beauty retailer. Insiders receive such perks as birthday gifts, access to the sephora insider only forum on Sephora.com, free beauty classes, a whole lot more.
I love Ultamate. Ulta Beauty has a nice blend of luxury and drug store beauty products. One Stop Shopping. Loves it. With Ultamate Rewards you get 1 point per dollar spent, you also get perks such as birthday coupon, free shipping, and invitations to member only events.
I am new to Pixi Beauty, but I’ve heard great things about their Glow-Tonic. With Pixi Beauty you earn 3 points per dollar and also rewarded for activites such as product reviews, sharing on social media etc. Save $5 on your next order.
If drug store makeup is more your speed try CVS beauty Club. Spend $30 get $3 Extra Bucks to use on a future purchase. Easy.
With Tarte Rewards You earn points for shopping, posting reviews, because the wind blew. (lol) Ok not really but there are a ton of ways to earn points with Tarte.
I’ve dedicated entire posts to the Posh Perks Program. Earn perks for shopping and referring your friends. Sign Up Here and get 500 points to start!
With MAC Select you get invitations to member only events, early access to launches, and birthday gifts, and free shipping in the higher tiers.
With Smash Cash you earn points for shopping online. Perks you get include 2 free samples with each order, free shipping, and full size products with the upper tiers.
Lancome offers a gajillion ways to earn reward points. You turn those rewards into free products. Now the thing I love the most about this program is that if I was in the mood to go to the mall. I could upload those receipts to turn that money into reward points.
Ok so if you love Estee Lauder this is a great one… If not… hmmmm,…. You only earn points by shopping on this program so unless you are a die hard fan or one of their products is on your holy grail list this might not be the program for you.
One of the first legit skin care products I ever bought was from Clinique. Their rewards program is pretty straight forward, shop and get rewards. You can also submit a receipt for in store purchases. Point are redeemable for product but you also enjoy perks such as free shipping and birthday rewards.Join Now for 15% Off Your Next Purchase
CoverFx has so many products on my wishlist. Points are redeemable for discounts ranging from $10-$40 off. So… Totally worth it.
Words can not begin to tell you how much I LOVE Urban Decay’s Reward Program. You get points… You get points… you get points. For literally everything you can think of. It’s so awesome. Points are redeemable for discounts.
BareMinerals Fab program essentially give you $10 off for every $150 you spend. You also get perks such as 15% off discounts and VIP Access to sales and product releases.
The L’oreal Paris Worth It Rewards is a very strange bird. You trade in your points for discount coupons and gift cards… to like AMC Theaters and Restaurants. You can also link your store loyalty cards to save on in store purchases… Very weird, but hey worth it.
As a member of the makeup crew you earn points for online and in store purchases, you can then redeem those points for makeup. You also get access to new product launches and other fun stuff.
Sign Up for Emails
This is an old trick, but if you want all the tea on sales, new releases etc you need to get on your fav brands email list. I know a lot of people have dummy accounts just for brand emails but I want to discourage that. I’d hate for you to miss out on a release or flash sale because you simply did not see the email. That would suck!
Follow Brands Social Media
Preferably Instagram. You never know what they are going to announce or ask for input on. I love it when brands ask me what is important to me in regards to a particular product. That rocks.. It means our thoughts and opinions are valid and important to them. While You’re there don’t forget to follow me! I try to post all the tea on what these brands are cooking up!
Don’t Forget Your Samples
A lot of the brands give you free samples with your order, but with some brands you need to add them yourself. If you don’t you miss out. So I add my samples first and then complete my order. I like free and I am not going to be jipped out of it. Also it’s a great way to test out something without buying it first. Also sidenote: If you walk into a Sephora you can literally take all the samples… Ok that would be rude but you can actually just walk in pick up samples and not spend a dime.
Child this site needs a dedicated post! I plan to get one of those out sometime in the next couple of weeks… But for now Yeah shop on glambot. You ever have that palette that didn’t work for you? Sell it on Glambot. I’ve included a vimeo video to explain the process. I know what you’re thinking used makeup? Glambot checks that the makeup is authentic and sterilizes it to prevent any uglies from harming your eyes.
So there you go… one super long post on how I save money on makeup. Hope this helps!
